Chris Godwin is a Producer and Editor and founder of Earthrise Pictures. His interest in film began in 1998 while working in Wootton High School’s television studio, where he would eventually direct the school’s morning news show. From there, Chris began to produce videos for various clubs and sports programs at school before founding Earthrise Productions, which specialized in Event Videography. Chris honed his location videography skills on the Bar Mitzvah circuit, and learned to edit video by cutting these projects together for various clients.
After training at the Maine Film and Television Workshops and Boston University’s ITRP Program in the summer of 2000, Chris began to expand into the production of short films and videos in addition to videography around the Maryland/DC area.
In 2002, Chris was accepted into the University of Southern California’s Cinema-Television program (now called the School of Cinematic Arts), and had the opportunity to direct a documentary series about teenagers for PBS-You.
In Los Angeles, Chris worked on various film and video projects, ranging from Public Access TV to commercials and music videos, specializing in Producing and Editing. In addition to working on several short films with undergraduate and M.F.A candidate filmmakers, he worked for Symmetry Media Group, a distribution start-up company, and World of Wonder Inc., working in post production for reality-tv series “Million Dollar Listing” and “Party Party.”
After graduating from the USC in 2006, he worked for producer Warren Zide (American Pie, Final Destination) on the development and post-production departments for the feature comedy film “American Summer” and in development for horror-thriller “Autopsy”.
In 2008, he began working for a company called Afterglow Media, which specializes in Personal Documentaries. It was here that he learned how to produce high quality personal documentary videos under the supervision of Afterglow CEO Marcia Orland.
Today, Chris has returned to his roots in San Francisco, producing Personal History Documentaries for clients in the Bay Area. In addition, he also line produces short films for local filmmakers and produces projects of his own between Personal Documentaries.
